Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda performed the groundbreaking for India's first High-Altitude Health Research Centre at Keylong in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. People living and working at high altitudes face particular health risks linked to low oxygen levels and extreme cold. A dedicated research facility in the Himalayan region is expected to support the study of such conditions and help develop better healthcare for mountain communities, as well as for others who spend long periods in high-altitude areas.
