Tamil Nadu has named D. Krishnakumar, former Chief Justice of the Manipur High Court, as Chairman of the reconstituted Tamil Nadu State Law Commission. Justice R.M.T. Teekaa Raman, T.K. Ramachandran and A. Arunagiri are full-time members, while P. Mohan Doss and R. Govindarajan are part-time members. The Commission is a State-level body that reviews existing laws, spots loopholes and recommends amendments or fresh legal measures, and can also propose social and economic legislation for the State. It works through fixed-term reconstitutions; the previous Commission's term had been extended for three years from 19 June 2020.
