Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 Introduced to Tighten Foreign Funding Rules

Save

The Union government has introduced the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2026 to tighten oversight of money received from foreign sources and improve organisations' transparency and accountability. It proposes a Designated Authority to take charge of foreign funds and assets when FCRA registration is cancelled, expires or is not renewed, and registration will lapse automatically without renewal. Directors, trustees and partners become personally accountable for proper use of funds. The Bill also requires time-bound utilisation and bars suspended organisations from transferring or selling assets.
