Following its latest plenary meeting, the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has placed Kuwait and Papua New Guinea on its list of jurisdictions under increased monitoring, commonly called the grey list. The two countries were added because of strategic deficiencies in their systems for countering money laundering, terrorist financing and illicit financial flows. Grey-listed countries must carry out time-bound action plans to fix these gaps. Iran, North Korea and Myanmar continue on the high-risk list, which calls for strict countermeasures and enhanced due diligence.
