The Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai is set to roll out India's first high-speed Vande Bharat Freight EMU (Electric Multiple Unit) prototype for trials. The train is built on the existing Vande Bharat platform, which ICF developed for semi-high-speed passenger services. Adapting the self-propelled EMU design for cargo could allow faster movement of parcels and time-sensitive goods, adding a new dimension to the Vande Bharat family and reinforcing Chennai's role as India's leading coach-manufacturing hub.
