DRDO demonstrates indigenous Gallium Nitride MMIC technology

Save
The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully demonstrated indigenous Gallium Nitride Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (GaN MMIC) technology. A GaN MMIC is a small chip that handles high-frequency microwave signals, operating up to the X-band. Gallium Nitride offers high power, better energy efficiency, faster signal processing and superior heat handling; a 3.5 x 3 mm chip can deliver up to 30 watts, making it useful for radars, satellites, sensors and missiles. Developed by DRDO in 2024, the technology places India among a small group of countries with indigenous GaN MMIC capability.
