DCGI Approves QDENGA, India's First Dengue Vaccine Developed by Japan's Takeda

Save
QDENGA, a dengue vaccine developed by Takeda Biopharmaceuticals of Japan, has received market authorisation from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI). With this approval, QDENGA becomes the first dengue vaccine cleared for use in India. Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease that causes recurring outbreaks across the country, especially during and after the monsoon. The availability of an approved vaccine is expected to add a preventive tool to India's existing efforts, which have so far relied mainly on vector control and early treatment.
