Judicial Tech Revolution: Integrating Multi-Tier Court Records into a Unified Knowledge Graph

In a monumental stride toward absolute digital integration within the legal system, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) officially launched the flagship ‘One Case One Data’ initiative alongside a highly sophisticated, AI-powered conversational assistance platform called ‘Su Sahay’. This sweeping infrastructure overhaul is architected to eliminate data fragmentation across the Indian judiciary, mapping all litigation lifecycles into a single, synchronized database.

The One Case One Data Operational Architecture

Historically, the tracking of a single legal matter across Subordinate Courts, District Tribunals, High Courts, and the Supreme Court suffered from extreme data isolation, with each tier assigning disconnected docket numbers. The new initiative standardizes this framework via an elite central index system:

  • Eliminating Fragmentation: Every petition filed within the Indian union receives a universal, unalterable digital identity code. This ensures that records, evidence logs, and historical orders from lower court tiers remain instantaneously accessible to apex benches, heavily optimizing case speed and disposal parameters.

  • Su Sahay AI Chatbot: Integrated directly onto the official website of the Supreme Court of India, this assistant handles complex citizen-centric queries. It provides real-time updates on case status, causelist placements, and certified copy tracking. The tool was indigenously developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) in close coordination with the Supreme Court Registry.

For TNPSC and Civil Services aspirants, this technical advancement serves as a vital case study under 'Indian Judiciary Reforms, e-Governance Initiatives, and the Role of AI in Public Administration'.
