Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) has been accorded the status of India's 28th Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE).
CPCL operates major petroleum refineries at Manali in Chennai and at Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. Navratna status gives a CPSE greater financial and operational autonomy, including more freedom to take investment decisions, form joint ventures and expand its business. The elevation is a notable achievement for a Tamil Nadu-based public sector unit.
