CERN's LHCb Experiment Discovers New Heavy Baryon Xi-cc-plus

Save

CERN has announced the discovery of a new particle, Xi-cc-plus, at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) through the LHCb (Large Hadron Collider beauty) experiment. Xi-cc-plus is a heavy baryon made up of two charm quarks and one down quark. It is roughly four times heavier than a proton and is highly unstable, with an extremely short lifetime. The LHC has earlier found the Higgs Boson, exotic hadrons with four or five quarks, and rare B-meson decays.
