The Union Minister for Consumer Affairs released IS 19262:2025, a test code for electric agricultural tractors prepared by the Bureau of Indian Standards. It sets common tests for power take-off, drawbar power, belt and pulley performance, vibration and inspection of components, adapted from the existing tractor test code IS 5994:2022. Uniform testing should help farmers trust battery-powered tractors, which cost less to run and pollute less than diesel ones.
