The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister announced a new spaceport at Hope Island, located off the coast of Kakinada in the Bay of Bengal near the Coringa Wildlife Sanctuary. Part of the Space City initiative, it will mainly support private launch missions focused on small and medium-lift launch vehicles, complementing the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) and the Kulasekarapattinam SSLV complex. Its location aids efficient eastward rocket launches and India's private space sector.
