Akasa Air and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) flew India's first commercial flight powered by aviation turbine fuel blended with 1% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF). The flight ran from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai, to Manohar International Airport, Goa. SAF is a lower-carbon fuel made from sustainable feedstocks. India targets 5% SAF blending by 2030 to cut aviation emissions and advance its energy transition in the sector.
