According to the Economic Survey 2025-26, Karnataka is home to 39% of India's generative AI startups, the largest share of any State. The number of GenAI startups in India rose to 890 in the first half of 2025, compared with 240 during the same period of 2024. The Survey also places India's startup ecosystem third in the world. Karnataka's 43 State public universities are seen as a key source of skilled talent for its deep-tech and GenAI firms.
