Tamil Nadu unveiled its Knowledge City project, along with several international education partnerships, at the India Global Education Summit 2026 held in Chennai. Spread over 872 acres in Tiruvallur district, the city is envisaged as a combined academic and industrial hub bringing together higher education, research, advanced manufacturing, clean technology and entrepreneurship. Land in the first phase is expected to be ready for allocation by the end of 2026, and over the long term the project is projected to serve more than 25,000 students and researchers.
