Save
The Ministry of Textiles has released a report mapping India's textile waste value chain to promote recycling and sustainability. The country produces about 70.73 lakh tonnes of textile waste each year from manufacturing and post-consumer disposal. Nearly 95% of pre-consumer waste is recovered thanks to strong collection and recycling systems, and the spinning sector reuses almost 100% of its waste through closed-loop processes. Around 70% of all textile waste is recycled, reused, upcycled or downcycled rather than sent to landfills. The textile recycling market could reach USD 3.5 billion by 2030 and generate nearly one lakh green jobs.
