The Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly has directed members and the media not to make public any notices submitted under Rule 55 and Rule 56 until they are admitted. Rule 55 relates to matters raised for discussion, and Rule 56 to adjournment motions. The Speaker noted that members had been releasing such notices to the press and on social media before approval. Under Rule 36(5), a notice cannot be publicised until the Speaker admits it and it is circulated among Assembly members. The media was also asked to refrain from publishing unapproved notices.
