SIPCOT industrial parks grew from 24 in 15 districts (32,525 acres) before 2021 to 54 parks across 49,468 acres. India's largest workers' hostel, with 18,720 beds, was built at Sriperumbudur, and new TIDEL Parks are coming up at Tiruchirappalli, Madurai and Hosur. The Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Mission-2030 is a five-year roadmap costing ₹500 crore. SIPCOT and the V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority are building a shipbuilding cluster at Thoothukudi, and a Shipbuilding Policy is due. A 1,000 MW pumped storage project at Vellimalai, Kanyakumari (₹5,320 crore, PPP) has completed preliminary studies.
