The Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) has completed the installation of the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) at Unit-5 of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) in Tamil Nadu.
The reactor pressure vessel is the heavy steel container that houses the nuclear fuel and the reactor core, and its installation is a key construction milestone for any nuclear unit. Completing this step moves Kudankulam Unit-5 closer to eventual commissioning, adding to the nuclear power capacity being built in Tamil Nadu.
