Global Energy Monitor: Wind and Solar Pipeline Hits Record 4.9 TW

Save

Global Energy Monitor reported that the worldwide pipeline of wind and utility-scale solar projects reached a record 4.9 terawatts in 2025, up 11% from 4.4 TW in 2024. China leads with over 1.5 TW prospective and 448 GW under construction; India has 125 GW under construction and over 163 GW operating. G7 nations hold only 11% (about 520 GW) of prospective capacity. Of 758 GW under construction globally, nearly three-fourths is in China and India. Progress still falls short of the COP28 goal of tripling renewables by 2030.
