The fourth Hanle Dark Sky Reserve (HDSR) Star Party was held at the Indian Astronomical Observatory in Hanle, Ladakh. It was jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Ladakh's Department of Wildlife Protection, the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR). The HDSR was notified in December 2022 to curb light pollution, support astronomy research and promote astro-tourism. Hanle is also slated to host the upgraded 3.7-m Himalayan Chandra Telescope and the 13.7-m National Large Optical-infrared Telescope (NLT).
