World Pharmacists Day, observed on 25 September, recognises the role of pharmacists in healthcare and the safe use of medicines. The 2026 theme is "Empowering pharmacists for healthier futures", with awareness on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) and responsible antibiotic use as key focus areas. In India, the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) is marking the day with the mission "Swastha Bharat: Combating Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR)". The PCI is a statutory body set up under the Pharmacy Act, 1948, to regulate pharmacy education and professional standards.
