NASA has confirmed, after fresh observations, that Asteroid 2024 YR4 will not hit the Moon in 2032. Discovered in 2024, the asteroid had earlier been estimated to have a roughly 3.8–4.3% chance of striking the Moon on 22 December 2032. Using data from the James Webb Space Telescope, scientists refined its orbit and found it will pass the Moon at a safe distance of about 21,200 km. The object is about 65 metres wide and is classed as a Near-Earth Object (NEO).
