During Question Hour in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, Agriculture Minister R. Vinoth raised a question on preparations for the Mahamaham festival of 2028. Question Hour is when Ministers reply to questions from MLAs on government administration, and under Assembly procedure Ministers normally cannot ask questions; Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar made an exception. The Heritage Committee has inspected temples for kumbabishekam and the government plans to speed up the works. Mahamaham is a major festival held at Kumbakonam.
