Tamil Nadu unveiled the Annapoorani Super Six Scheme in the State Assembly on August 24, 2026, to be launched on Pongal Day in January 2027. Eligible households will be reimbursed for domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders, with money credited to their bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). Families earning below ₹2.5 lakh a year, middle and marginal farmers, and families of persons with disabilities qualify. The annual outlay is estimated at ₹4,000 crore. The scheme is tied to the State's public distribution and welfare system and aims to cut household cooking-fuel costs.
