The 36th Ig Nobel Prize ceremony took place on 3 September 2026 in Zurich, Switzerland. Organised every year by the Annals of Improbable Research, the prizes honour research that "makes people laugh, then think." Researchers from inStem, Bengaluru, were members of the team that won the Chemistry Prize for studying energy-rich protein crystals found in cockroach milk. Other winners included a Technology Prize for using mosquito mouthparts as ultra-fine 3D-printing nozzles and a Soil Science Prize for burying cotton underwear in over 25 countries to assess soil health.
