India–New Zealand Free Trade Agreement Comes into Force on 20 October 2026

The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and New Zealand took effect on 20 October 2026, becoming India's 17th operational FTA. New Zealand has scrapped tariffs on all Indian goods, while India has started offering tariff concessions on chosen New Zealand imports. India's concessions extend to 70% of its tariff lines, which account for roughly 95% of present bilateral trade by value; duty-free access will rise in phases from 57% to 82% of tariff lines. New Zealand has pledged to facilitate $20 billion of foreign direct investment (FDI) into India across 15 years. The pact targets bilateral trade in goods and services of NZ$7 billion by 2030.
