India celebrated 20 years of Earth Hour with participation across the country on March 28, 2026. Lights at major monuments and buildings were switched off for one hour, from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM, as a symbolic gesture. Earth Hour is a global event held every year and organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) to encourage climate action and the conservation of energy. The observance invites individuals, communities and institutions to switch off non-essential lights to highlight the need to protect the planet.
