The Ministry of Jal Shakti has introduced the Sujal Gaon ID, a unique digital identifier for every rural drinking water supply scheme, under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) 2.0.
Each scheme gets its own ID for mapping and management, enabling real-time monitoring, better planning and efficient running of rural water supply with greater transparency. About 1.64 lakh Sujal Gaon IDs have already been generated across 31 States and Union Territories. The mission aims to provide safe tap water to every rural household by 2028.
