The 16th Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, which began its term on May 11, 2021 after the state elections, will complete its five-year tenure on May 10, 2026. It held comparatively fewer sittings than earlier Assemblies. A key reform was the move to a fully digital, paperless budget: the revised Budget for 2021-22 was presented paperless on August 13, 2021 by then Finance Minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan. A separate annual Agriculture Budget was also introduced to give focused attention to farming.
