World Standards Day falls every year on 14 October. It draws attention to the role international standards play in keeping people safe, smoothing global trade and supporting sustainable development. Standards give manufacturers, regulators and consumers a common benchmark, which is why the day is used to highlight their value across sectors. The theme chosen for 2026 is "Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on Sustainable Development Goal 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy)." The theme links the work of standardisation to the global goal of ensuring that everyone has access to affordable and clean energy, one of the seventeen United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
