The Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) has identified a new species of cockroach, named Neoloboptera peninsularis, from Pune in Maharashtra. The discovery was made with the help of DNA-based taxonomy, a method that relies on genetic information to tell species apart and classify them. The find adds a new name to India's documented insect fauna and highlights the growing role of molecular tools in the biodiversity research carried out by ZSI.
