Manipur has an elected government again after President Droupadi Murmu withdrew President's Rule on February 4, 2026. The State had been under central administration through Article 356 since February 13, 2025, following the resignation of Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh. On the same day the proclamation was revoked, February 4, 2026, Yumnam Khemchand Singh was sworn in as Chief Minister. Nemcha Kipgen and Losii Dikho also took the oath, both as Deputy Chief Ministers. The change ended almost a year in which Manipur was governed directly by the Centre.
