The WWF-India EIACP Programme Centre started its countrywide Green Diwali Campaign on 20 October 2026; it will continue till 8 November 2026. Backed by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), the drive urges people to mark the festival with less pollution and waste, with special attention to the 130 cities under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). It asks citizens to skip firecrackers and single-use plastic, light traditional diyas and energy-saving lamps, separate their waste and buy local goods. The campaign is in line with Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).
