ISRO has completed a series of tests on separating the Crew Module and Service Module (CM–SM) at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The trials were meant to confirm that the two modules part safely before the crew module re-enters Earth's atmosphere during the Gaganyaan mission. Gaganyaan is India's first human spaceflight programme, which plans to carry Indian astronauts to low Earth orbit and return them safely to Earth.
