The government has now listed 375 allowed works under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) [VB-G RAM G] Act, 2025. That is 41% more than the 266 works allowed earlier. The works are grouped into four pillars: Water Security, Core Rural Infrastructure, Livelihood-related Infrastructure, and Special Works for Extreme Weather Events and Disaster Preparedness. With 128 works such as river rejuvenation, check dams, injection wells and recharge shafts, Water Security is the biggest pillar. Projects will be drawn up in the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan and cleared by the Gram Sabha. The aim is to tie rural jobs to water security, infrastructure, livelihoods and climate resilience.
