UN Women and the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) released the Gender Snapshot 2026 report. It finds that one in three institutional mechanisms for gender equality saw their power reduced in the last two years, about one in four faced budget cuts and nearly one in 10 lost budget control. Six in seven countries are led by men, and women hold just 6% of CEO posts globally. Nearly nine in 10 defence ministers and over eight in 10 finance ministers are men. None of the SDG 5 indicators is on course for 2030.
