Marking the 17th Aadhaar Day, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) unveiled five initiatives on digital identity at Aadhaar Samvaad, held on 29 September 2026 in Kolkata. Face Authentication for the Electronic Public Distribution System (ePDS) was rolled out with the National Informatics Centre and the food and public distribution department. Two tools, SWIK Portal 2.0 and a Sub-AUA/Sub-KUA (LITE) Framework, let eligible entities with only small authentication needs use Aadhaar. A Token Management System now serves visitors to UIDAI offices, and the redesigned website works in 13 languages. Aadhaar is a 12-digit identity number; UIDAI functions under MeitY, the electronics and IT ministry.
