The Tamil Nadu government has approved five Model Registration Hubs (MRH) in the first phase, costing ₹7.84 crore, to make property and marriage registration simpler. Their locations are the registration districts of Chennai North, Chennai Central, Chennai South, Chengalpattu and Coimbatore. Citizens may use any hub they prefer, regardless of which Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) has territorial jurisdiction. Services will come in standard and premium tiers (tatkal registration included), and the hubs will be graded into three categories by registration volume and infrastructure. A Managed Service Provider (MSP) chosen through competitive tendering will run operations, while statutory registration functions stay with the Sub-Registrar. The government plans to extend the scheme to 20 more locations.
