Between April and September 2026, Tamil Nadu produced 12,256 million units (MU) of wind power, close to the 12,360 MU recorded in the same months of 2025. Wind met 16.16% of the State's total electricity consumption in this period, compared with 17.87% a year earlier. While wind generation dipped slightly this year, solar installations in the State are growing quickly. Wind turbines now in use range from 2.1 megawatts (MW) to 5 MW in capacity, and the cost of setting them up reaches about ₹9 crore per MW.
