The Supreme Court has asked all States to upload road accident information without delay to the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) portal. The portal, run by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), digitises accident reports and helps victims pursue motor accident compensation claims. The Court wants eDAR linked with VAHAN, the vehicle registration database, SARATHI, which holds driving licence records, and the Insurance Information Bureau (IIB), which keeps insurance data. The Centre and States have four weeks to finish the integration and file compliance reports. Separately, the PM-RAHAT scheme offers accident victims cashless treatment worth up to ₹1.5 lakh for a maximum of seven days.
