Vikram-1, India's first privately developed orbital rocket, has been flagged off. It was built by Skyroot Aerospace, a startup based in Hyderabad. Vikram-1 is a three-stage launch vehicle made of carbon composite, fitted with advanced 3D-printed engines, and uses both solid and liquid propulsion. It can place a payload of up to 350 kg in Low Earth Orbit. Its maiden launch is scheduled for June 2026 from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, marking a milestone for India's private space sector.
