Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches PMGSY-IV in Odisha

PMGSY-IV: A New Era for Rural Connectivity in Odisha

In May 2026, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Rural Development, launched the 4th phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV) in Rayagada district, Odisha. With a total outlay of Rs. 1,700 crore, the scheme aims to transform the rural landscape by providing all-weather road access to remote and underserved habitations.

Key Highlights:

  • Infrastructure Boost: The project covers 827 road projects spanning approximately 1,702 km.

  • Beneficiaries: About 898 habitations across eight tribal and remote districts, including Kandhamal, Koraput, and Rayagada, will gain all-weather connectivity for the first time.

  • Funding Pattern: The cost is shared between the Centre and the State in a 60:40 ratio.

For TNPSC and SSC aspirants, this is a vital update under 'Rural Development Schemes' and 'Infrastructure,' showcasing the government's push for inclusive growth in the hinterlands.
