Shaheed Diwas is observed every year on March 23 in memory of the sacrifice of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev, who were executed by the British at Lahore jail in 1931. Another Shaheed Diwas is marked on January 30, the day Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. The day honours all martyrs who gave their lives for India's freedom.
