The Union Government has appointed senior IAS officer Anurag Jain as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog. The appointment was cleared by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), as stated in an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). NITI Aayog, which replaced the Planning Commission in 2015, is the Union government's main policy think tank and is chaired by the Prime Minister. The CEO heads its day-to-day functioning and coordinates its work with ministries and States.
