The Government has approved the procurement of potatoes in Uttar Pradesh under the Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) for 2025–26.
- Price: ₹6.5 per kilogram.
- Quantity: About 20 lakh metric tonnes of potatoes.
- Central support: Roughly ₹203.15 crore from the Government of India.
- Purpose of MIS: Protect farmers when market prices crash because of excess supply or other reasons.
- Other approvals: Procurement of chickpeas in Andhra Pradesh and pigeon pea (tur) in Karnataka.
