The Lok Sabha passed the second batch of Supplementary Demands for Grants for 2025–26, in which the Finance Minister proposed an Economic Stabilisation Fund (ESF) with an outlay of ₹1 lakh crore. The fund is meant to help India cope with global crises, sudden economic shocks and supply-chain disruptions. Supplementary Demands for Grants, provided for under Article 115 of the Constitution, are needed when the amount Parliament approved for a service in a financial year proves insufficient. The President causes them to be laid before both Houses, and they must be passed before the financial year ends.
