Ritu Tawde is set to become Mumbai's first Mayor from the Bharatiya Janata Party in 44 years. She will head the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), India's largest and wealthiest civic body. The BMC's record budget for 2025–26 was about ₹74,427 crore, an amount bigger than the budgets of several smaller Indian States.
