The Reserve Bank of India's special USD-INR forex swap facility has drawn in $136.377 billion. Of this, $127.226 billion came via FCNR(B) deposits, $5.260 billion via Overseas Foreign Currency Borrowings and $3.891 billion via External Commercial Borrowings. RBI launched the facility on June 8, 2026 to counter outflows driven by high oil prices and Foreign Portfolio Investor exits. Due to stronger-than-expected inflows, the FCNR(B) window, meant to run until September 30, 2026, was closed early on August 31. The inflows should bolster forex reserves and support the rupee.
