The RBI published its Financial Stability Report on 2 January 2026. The report comes out twice a year with inputs from a sub-committee of the Financial Stability and Development Council. It found India's government debt sustainable, helped by S&P's upgrade to 'BBB'. Banks have strong capital buffers, and gross NPAs fell to 2.2% by September 2025. Fintech lending grew 36.1%. The report warned about foreign-currency stablecoins and the weakening rupee.
